After finding more oil than Jed Clampett during his career as a geologist and Earth Science teacher, Richard Barnett now writes Christian fiction and inspirational nonfiction. With numerous publication credits for professional papers, short stories, meditations, poems, and articles, Richard has won numerous awards for creative and technical writing.
As you might guess, Richard believes in Christmas and the Christ of Christmas. All small boys are heathens at heart, and Richard was no exception. It was the making and eating of Christmas cakes, puddings, tarts, trifles and other special fare that I believed in at that time.
It was 60 years ago (i.e, 1950)that I met the Christ of Christmas, who changed my life. Now I understand that the Nativity is only a part of Jesus’ story. Easter, the Ascension, and Pentecost complete it by fulfilling its purpose and promise.
Widowed after nearly 56 years of marriage to Alleen, have two grown daughters and two grandsons of high school age.
I married Opal Patricia Dunn on February 19, 2011. After 58 years of marriage before the death of her late husband, M.L. Dunn, Opal has 3 sons, 3 daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
